Osun State Water Supply and Sanitation Sector Reform Programme II (WSSSRP II) assisted by the European Union took off in March 2013. The programme was launched in July 2014. After the launching, the State Implementation team worked with the Technical Assistance Team (TAT) to produce the 1st year Action Plan, which covers the activities and sub-activities developed for achieving each of the programme’s objectives.

Water Supply and Sanitation Sector Reform Programme, Phase II (WSSSRP II), is a successor programme of the 9th EDF and it aims at consolidating the achievements of the predecessor programme with a view to address the remaining fundamental weakness of the Nigeria Water supply and Sanitation sector.
The programme is also to contribute to poverty reduction, sustainable development and to achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) which is also part of the six integral Action Plan of the administration of the Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola. It is in fulfilment of the State’s commitment to the reform programme as it concerns Water Supply and Sanitation Sector Programme (WSSSRP), supported by the European Union, that the State Government has reinstated the abolished Ministry of Water Resources and it is now Ministry of Water Resources, Rural Development and Community Affairs whose main function is to provide supervision for all the agencies in charge of water supply and sanitation.
Lastly, the Programme intends to sustain the improvements on water governance started under WSSSRP I at the Federal level and EU focal States through provision of Technical Assistance and capacity development to MDAs that are responsible for water resources, water supply and sanitation facilities in the small towns and rural communities.
